A work guide was developed which allows a detailed guidance of the student to carry out autonomous research, mainly on the thematic module of the population, where the role of the teacher is referred to the clarification of doubts, enabling the student to "learn to learn" and fostering their critical and analytical sense. Based on the conclusions of the operationality of the research work, carried out by the tenth-grade students, using the guide provided by the teacher, some considerations about the application of alternative pedagogical practices are presented.
