The Hospital Class is a service that aims to guarantee the right to education for hospitalized students. In order for the service to be effective and fulfill its social function, it is necessary for teachers to have initial and continuing training covering knowledge about the theoretical, methodological and political aspects of this work, as well as supervised internships. Thus, this qualitative research aimed to analyze the perception of three teachers who work in hospital classes in relation to the initial and continuing education processes experienced. As a data collection procedure, a semi-structured interview was used and the data analysis took place from the perspective of Content Analysis. It was found that the teachers are trained in Pedagogy and have a lato sensu postgraduate degree in Hospital Pedagogy. Participants' reports indicate that initial training did not provide sufficient knowledge to face the challenges imposed by hospital care, pointing to the importance of continuing education. In addition, it was found that there are no moments of continuing education for teachers who work in hospital classes offered by the state network to which they are linked. It is concluded that teachers who work in Brazilian hospital classes lack initial and continuing training that address the specificity of care.
