The study of literary works in a foreign language is a privileged pedagogical tool, as it fosters both the linguistic and (inter)cultural development of students. It stimulates their interest and encourages active engagement in the teaching-learning process (Carter & Long, 1991; Kramsch, 1993).
In this context, it is proposed the facilitation of a French as a Foreign Language (FLE) workshop, aimed at a mimimal A2-level learners (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), based on an excerpt from the novel "Le Fantôme de l’Opéra" by Gaston Leroux (1910).
Through a textual-discursive approach (Charaudeau, 2001, 2008) and an interactive perspective (Bruner, 1983), the aim is to develop the four main language skills (reading and listening comprehension, written and oral production) in the students. They will have the opportunity to explore the captivating universe of Gaston Leroux, with its mysterious characters and emblematic settings of 19th-century Paris. Additionally, students will enrich their vocabulary and practice key grammatical structures, particularly past tenses, through a variety of engaging activities.
