This article aims to develop the concepts of reality and authenticity having as
main reference “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” by Walter
Benjamin (1936). Contemporary readings of Benjamin's work make possible its
contextualization in an even more actual way. Thus, the main concern of this essay is to
confirm the survival of the aura stated by Benjamin as a fundamental condition of authenticity
of the object in times marked by a (hyper-)reality whose speed does not seem to support at all.
