The main aim of this essay is to discuss the growing interest Translation Studies has expressed in Corpus Linguistics and the important role its methods play on the investigation of translation phenomenon. The essay presents the first works on the interface between corpora and translation and how the Corpus-based Translation Studies discipline evolved in the last decade. A more close attention is given to the notion of small corpus studies and its influence on the field of translation research in Brazil, as well as how the concept of representativiness has received different conceptualisations in corpus-based studies of translation phenomena.
