This article aims to explain the development process of the "Ponte Amiga" project. This is an education and social intervention project, guided by the Participatory Action Research methodology, which involved a group of residents from a social housing neighbourhood located in the north of the country. The aim of this project was to intensifying the community support network in the Ponte Amiga neighbourhood. In order to achieve this, general and specific objectives were defined, as well as the development of three actions centred on the needs of: creating a network of volunteers; greater emotional support for the elderly population; developing and strengthening neighbourly relations; establishing relationships of trust; greater appreciation of people's interests; and increasing participation in decision-making processes.
Through the development of the project, it is also intended to reflect on the development of Participatory Action Research projects in community spaces.
