In times of rapid social transformations, education will have to adapt and respond to new challenges, in the right direction to safeguard the rights of all people. This process requires that intervention in the school context values participatory, cooperative, reflective and socio-critical learning, which aims to promote the development of the school, students and communities, as well as contributing to the growth and appreciation of /professionals.
In line with these assumptions, participatory action research (IAP) emerges as especially important for the development of projects in schools, due to the involvement of all participating subjects and the belief in each one's ability to transform reality. The education and social intervention project “When is 25 equal to 1?” (Gonçalves, 2022) was methodologically guided by IAP and built with students from a 1st cycle class, allowing all participants to become more reflective, interventional and collaborative/ to the. As a result of the project, interpersonal relationships improved, the group became more cohesive and inclusive. Furthermore, the project increased the environmental awareness of students and professionals.
This article presents the project and the actions developed, as well as a reflection on the processes and results achieved.
