Art and artistic expression by José Régio: A detour to the center

Abstract

The cartographies of José Régio’s critical and reflective thinking on art and artistic expression imply a circuit between his 1920s production, especially in the pages of Presença: fôlha de arte e crítica, and the essay Em Tôrno da expressão artística (around the Artistic Expression) published in 1940. Therefore, we sought to cross the author’s various references on the phenomenon of artistic creation, to the perception of his understanding of art and artistic expression, around the I Salão dos Independentes.
