The assessment of learning in higher education has changed over time, not only due to the implementation of the Bologna Process, but also due to the development of new assessment methods. Assessment is part of teaching and is very important as it can provide feedback on students' learning. In this work will be presented the case of assessment in ALGAN, course of the 1st year and 1st semester of a degree in Engineering. Data from recent years will be presented and a comparison of these values with those of the academic year 2020/2021 will be made. Finally, some opinions of the students involved in this process will be presented. The data regarding the students' opinions were collected through an anonymous questionnaire survey. As we can see from the results presented, students in general agree that the assessment is fairer when it mixes frequencies with other assessment elements, and they feel more motivated when the assessment is carried out throughout the semester and not only at the end.
