The Lisbon Superior School of Education has been working around heritage research, in the context of teacher training, using local heritage as a starting point for reflection and educational practice, and with the aim of evolving in this line of education and research. An example is the curricular unit of Themes of History and Geography of Portugal, integrated in the Master degree in Teaching of the 1st and 2nd Cycles of Primary Education, which has as its main learning objectives the articulation of the deepening, the study and analysis of themes of the Social Environment, from the History and Geography of Portugal (HGP), with the recognition of the potentialities of local / regional history and the geography of places for the study / investigation of HGP. The construction of a research project around local heritage and the construction of a didactic resource, which includes a guide to visit the territory or the chosen heritage elements, are two dimensions that contribute to the development of historical-geographical skills and to the exercise of territorial citizenship.
