This article, starting from a case of a relationship of help that took place in the context of accompaniment to families benefiting from the Social Insertion Income, intends to reflect on the potentialities and constraints that can be observed in this reality, reflecting the role of each intervener. The analysed case was followed up in the scope of the professional practice of one of the authors of this article. The information was presented by her and both authors analysed it. Of the main reflections triggered, it is considered that, although there are associated constraints, in a collaborative and holistic approach, IHR intervention is considered to benefit from the development of close, personalized, reciprocal and dialectical help relationships. Thus, in a contented, affectionate and trusting environment, people were assisted in re-establishing their balance and progressing towards greater empowerment, autonomy and personal fulfilment.
