The head of the Degree in Information Sciences and Documentation and Technologies (LCTDI) together with the Parish Council of Vila do Conde develop a joint project with the intention of preserving the identity and cultural connection of Vila do Conde with fishing activity and with the fishermen of Caxinas and Poça da Barca, through the creation of a cultural and tourist project called "The Fisherman's Route". This is implemented in the context of training and pedagogical innovation and the integration of LCTDI final students through the curricular practicum and considering the skills and new career opportunities of the information professional for the 21st century. The central element of the project is the importance of informational heritage as an agent that generates value and distinctive identity and is essential for creating, distinguishing and enriching tourism activities based on the realities of the local heritage. It is intended to promote the sustainable development of tourism services and resources in to stimulate local economic development.
Is inferred the importance of the skills of collection, retrieval, analysis and synthesis of the information that the information professional holds in different working realities as a pedagogical practice of prominence applied in the curricular unit of internship.
