Abstract

The study focuses on the impact of virtuous leadership (VL) in organizational commitment (OC) as well as the contribution of the latter on individual performance. The sample was made up of 351 employees from organizations operating in Portugal. The results suggest that perceptions of followers around the three dimensions of leadership virtuousness (value-based leadership, perseverance and maturity) contribute to OC, especially its affective and normative aspects, and that the last one, in is turn, is able to positively influence individual performance.
