Abstract

This qualitative, exploratory, and documentary study, based on institutional guidelines, specialized literature, and content analysis, examines the evaluation criteria for scientific journals using Domain Analysis (DA), linking it to good editorial practices, qualitative bibliometrics, and the development of self-assessment indicators. Using DA as a theoretical and methodological perspective to understand the role of journals in the production, legitimization, and circulation of knowledge, the study focused on organizing indicators across five dimensions: structural, reputational, scientific integrity, visibility, and governance. The results suggest that the application of these indicators can foster continuous processes of self-assessment and editorial improvement, provided it is accompanied by institutional support and training. The proposal offers a model applicable in different contexts, pointing the way for future empirical validation. The conclusion is that DA constitutes a strategic tool for monitoring structural and discursive transformations in journals, contributing to their qualification and sustainability.
