This article studies the fundamentals and evolution of translation studies in the last decades. It begins by presenting Holmes’ basic map of Translation Studies and continues analysing the different branches and concepts of Translation Studies, such as polysystem, translation norms, Skopostheorie, cultural turn, cannibalistic metaphor, translation turn and paratranslation.
