Vassiliy Kandinskiy is an unavoidable name, quite well-known in the field of last century’s fine arts. Notwithstanding. there are significant aspects that are on the basis of not only of the formation of his art conception, but also of the painter’s vision of the world, that, due of existent distance either in space or in time, remain often unnoticed to the public. With this article, we aim mainly at introducing the reader to the development of Vassiliy Kandiskiy, both in theoretical and artistic terms, in the context of the Russian culture of the late 19th century, and the beginning of the 20th century. In order to reconstruct this period of the painter’s life, we used, as far as possible, his own memories Steps, as well his works on theoretical issues, and the correspondence with various friends of the time, among other literature.
