The impact of the internet and social networks on the growth of fast fashion and slow fashion

With the growing influence of the internet and social networks, industry has undergone several changes, with fashion being one of the most affected. The aim of this article is to analyze how digital platforms, and the internet encourage the growth of fast fashion and, at the same time, drive the rise of slow fashion, which is more concerned and influential in adopting more sustainable practices. While fast fashion has grown with the ability of brands to reach a wide audience and create an immediate desire and need, the slow fashion movement has also taken advantage of digital platforms by raising consumer awareness of sustainability and the adoption of ethical practices. With this article we will be able to conclude that, although fast fashion is still the dominant option, the concern and environmental awareness passed on through digital has the effect and the ability to shape consumers to have a more ethical future thinking for this type of industry.
