Intercultural Dialogues in a Post-Digital World: Empirical Perspectives at the Threshold of Complexit

Abstract

This Special Issue of E-REI: E-Journal of Intercultural Studies (2026), titled "Intercultural Dialogues in a Post-Digital World, 1 - USJ, Macao/China," explores the complex interplay between intercultural negotiation, technological mediation, and institutional structures across Western and Eastern contexts. Moving beyond celebratory narratives of digital progress, the volume examines how post-digital transformations—characterized by the deep entanglement of algorithmic and digital systems within everyday life—reconfigure power relations, ethical leadership, public administration, regulatory governance, green finance, social media dynamics, transnational curatorial practices, and inclusive education. Through nine empirical and interdisciplinary contributions spanning diverse geographical settings (including Macao, Australia, Timor-Leste, Brazil, Portugal, and Bangladesh), the issue demonstrates that human agency, ethical responsibility, and cultural negotiation remain vital for addressing structural inequalities, institutional continuities, and socio-technical complexity in a post-digital world.
