The objective of this work is to study the short story Pintura, by Mozambican writer José Craveirinha. Adopting as a theoretical framework the concept of social class, from a definition elaborated by Karl Marx, we will examine how the author presents the question of social relations within the capitalist society. We assumed that the formation of the classes, and the manner in which they relate, involve the working relationships and the class consciousness. However, also include other factors ignored by Marx like, for example, the race and the life trajectories of individuals.
