Abstract

The aim of this article is to determine how Charles Taylor's concept of merging horizons or horizon of criteria becomes important in contemporary times to address phenomena related to multiculturality and interculturality. To understand this notion, it is necessary to make an analysis of the concept of the moral ideal that prevails in the ailments of modernity, as well as the recognition of the ideal of authenticity, the recognition policies and the equal value of different cultures. Finally, it will be developed
a distinction between the concepts of diatopic hermeneutics and the merging of horizons.
