Through the comparative analysis of the poem «Metamorfose» of Terra
Imóvel by Luiza Neto Jorge and the set of six canvases of A Dama Pé-de-Cabra by Paula
Rego we intend to highlight a significant set of traits common to the works of the two
artists. Although the first was published in 1964 and the second appeared almost 50 years
later in 2012, the surrealist matrix of both is highlighted, including traits such as the
valorization of women, violence, aggression, shock, strangeness, transgression, the
dilution between the real and the imaginary, the deconstruction of the divine, the world
"backwards" and humor. From the interpretation of the two works, we highlight the use
of the "Deleuzian becoming” to intensify the metamorphosis and the “beautiful and
diabolical grotesque”, as subversion and insurrection of language and strategy of female
affirmation in poetry and painting.
