The tragic endings of Lygia Fagundes Telles's “Uma branca sombra pálida” and Cíntia Moscovich's “À memória das coisas afastadas”, as an impossibility of breaking the gender intelligibility matrix. If, on the one hand, the two narratives present lesbian characters in the face of heteronormativity, on the other, the presence of the tragic component, with the death of these characters, directs the outcome of the

stories to a feeling of hopelessness caused by the impediment of transgression of values conservatives of Brazilian society.
