The Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, pioneer woman to be part of the literary canon of her country, combines individual and global elements in her work through a language which is aesthetically carved and luminous. This essay aims to analyze how the body and the sea –two themes commonly present in her work –are highlighted through the metaphor of the movement and its varied shades.
