This article analyses the film "Spanglish" and the clash between cultures presented in it - Mexican and American. It approaches the emigrant identity and the struggle between keeping one's “original” culture or adopting the new culture in order be integrated into society. The main character’s identity construction - an emigrant mother – allows the understanding of stereotypes, conceived about the Latin culture.
