Mural of Lionesa: a semiotic approach

Abstract

This work arose within the Intersemiotic Translation Curricular Unit (French-Portuguese). Its main goal is the intersemiotic analysis of four graffiti from the Mural da Lionesa that convoke poems by Fernando Pessoa, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen and Vinicius de Moraes in a clear relation of intertextuality. Located in Rua da Lionesa, in Leça do Balio, the graffiti that integrate it dialogues with texts from Portuguese and Brazilian literature and with the history of Matosinhos, recreating, through Cayo Carpo, the legend of its origins from ancient Rome. The images studied contain identical themes: "being Portuguese", hope, the sea and Matosinhos.
