Some of the explanatory models of personality consider the social environment as an essential element. Additionally, personality (traits) and social skills are focused in several studies, some of which explore the relationship between them. Much of this isbased on the big five model. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the theoretical and empirical relationships between personality dimensions, according to the big five model, and social skills. The results suggest that these variables are conceptually and empirically related. Personality and social skills may thus influence each other, whether in an adaptive or non-adaptive sense.
