Analysis made to the historical event of the discovery of Hawaii by Captain James Cook, in the service of the British Empire, and relate the occurrences with the contents taught in the curricular unit of Intercultural Studies. This was the theme chosen because I think it is a fascinating story and one of the few, within the field of real events, that has an unexpected end. Furthermore, it is a little known period in the history of the British Empire, so with this work, I intend not only to learn, but also to inform my colleagues who may not know the subject. The last reason for my choice was the idea I have that this intercultural encounter presented several practical examples of the subject matter contained in the IS (Intercultural Studies) subject. For the execution of this analysis I used as base material the eighth episode of the first season of the documentary series "Ancient Black Ops", which have as their main focus the various elite fighting forces of the distant past. I also used, as secondary source material, the documentary "Conquest of Hawaii" which focuses more on Kamehameha's perspective on the unification of the Hawaiian islands.
