This work was carried out in the context of the curricular unit of Intercultural Studies, taught by Dr. Clara Sarmento, which aims to learn and make known a little more about the phenomenon of cultural appropriation. It was used as a study focus the situation of the United States of America, in particular the case of the Afro-American culture and the North-American Indian culture. Consolidating all the knowledge learned throughout the semester, this work aims to observe and explain the episodes of cultural appropriation of several cultures by the dominant culture, in this case the American white community, focusing on the concepts of culture and power, thought structures, social construction of identity and personal and collective identities
