This study analyses the expatriation of Brazilian professionals in Portugal. Expatriation is a phenomenon that emerged as a strategy of companies facing internationalization and the growing creation of global markets. However, one of the main reasons for the success or failure of this phenomenon is linked to the adaptation of the expatriates in different cultural panoramas. In this context, the present study sought to understand the process of expatriation of Brazilians professionals in Portugal and their adaptation to the country. We carried out a literature review in order to approach the concepts of expatriation, intercultural adaptation and cultural shock. To understand this objective, a qualitative study was carried out with semi-structured interviews with Brazilian expatriates working in Brazilian companies located in Portugal. Subsequently, the information was analyzed using the technique of content analysis. Through the reports of expatriates results proved that the expatriation was positive in terms of career and personal life, and that cultural differences area motivator for the expatriate to insert and therefore adapt to the new culture.
