This paper aims to give a brief analysis of the clash of cultures that occurred in Portugal during the Napoleonic Peninsular War of the early 19th century. Starting by describing the contemporaneity of the surrounding cultures, namely the Portuguese, French and British during the period of this conflict, as well as summarising some interesting aspects of the interaction between them that marked one of the bloodiest periods of modern history. Ending then with a brief conclusion on the intercultural process involved and what it influenced in the minds of both the protagonists and the current society of the 21st century.
