The present article aims to analyse three films by Richard Linklater: Before Sunrise, 1995, Before Sunset, 2004 and Before Midnight, 2013 that focus on the story of a couple over the course of eighteen years. Besides pointing out some of the most relevant aspects of each narrative, the proposed analysis focuses essentially on the journey made by the two characters - Jesse and Céline - and on the various locations in the different films and their meanings. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze how Vienna (Sunrise), Paris (Sunset) or an island in Greece (Midnight) symbolize three distinct moments in Jesse and Céline's relationship, the locations also functioning as characters that involve and characterize the two lovers.
