The main objective of the present work is the submission of an analysis of the book "The Heart of Darkness" by the author Joseph Conrad. It will mainly address the intercultural issues evident in the work, which is often criticised for presenting ideas of a racist and colonialist nature that would be strongly present in the era of European imperialism. Conrad is potentially understood by readers in an ambiguous way, not being initially intelligible if he would have written his work through the point of view of a mere individual of his time (of colonialist ideals, according to the society in which he is inserted) or if it is, in fact, satirical, serving as a profound critique of European colonial imperialism and the way it approached the colonies and tried to impose its "civilization" on them.
