Cultural Competence: Analysis of the concept according to Walker and Avant's Traditional Methodology

This study aimed to explore the meaning of the concept of cultural competence in order to clarify it in nursing practice. The traditional methodology of concept analysis proposed by Walker and Avant was used in the 15 texts selected from EBSCOhost and the Virtual Health Library. It was concluded that the association between personal and professional ethical-humanitarian characteristics, cultural skill with a focus on communication and cultural knowledge are identified as the main characteristics for the existence of the concept.
