Abstract

This article analyzes the systemic vulnerabilities faced by models in the contemporary fashion industry, deconstructing the idealized image of perfection and success associated with the sector. Through a critical reflection of a theoretical and analytical nature, grounded in specialized academic literature, the text explores threats to physical and professional integrity, such as extreme aesthetic pressure and the phenomenon of typecasting. It discusses how commercial segmentation, exemplified by the hindered transition between the swimwear market and high fashion, limits professional autonomy. The article concludes that the sustainability of a modeling career requires an ethical redefinition of backstage practices and labor protection that values versatility instead of stigmatization.
