Abstract

This article begins by distinguishing between onboarding and integration, understood as different stages in an employee’s journey into an organization. Onboarding, focused on the initial contact, helps reduce initial anxiety and clearly present the company and its values. Integration takes place later, over the following weeks and months, as the new employee navigates specific routines, unwritten norms, and team dynamics, requiring ongoing support, feedback, and interaction. The analysis shows that treating onboarding as a closed, standardized process can lead to information gaps and a perception of insufficient support. It is therefore argued that onboarding and integration should be viewed as a phased process, with well-defined responsibilities at each stage.
