Abstract

The beginning of adulthood is often marked by instability, the need for definition, and decisions with a strong impact on the future. This article discusses how the conflict between an identity still under construction and the demand for definitive decisions intensifies uncertainty at this stage of life. The analysis is based on three factors: the pressure to decide while identity is still not fully consolidated, the transformation of doubt into a feeling of failure, and the anticipation of responsibilities before stability is achieved. As its main contribution, the article argues that this experience should not be read merely as individual fragility, but rather as the result of the conditions under which young people try to build their path, thus requiring a less rigid and more contextual reading of this transition.
