Today, although we live in the information age, the abundance of available content does not necessarily translate into a more informed society. Information overload, the rapid dissemination of digital content, and the influence of algorithms make it difficult to distinguish between credible information and misinformation, fostering the emergence of phenomena such as post-truth. In this context, emotions and personal beliefs tend to override verifiable facts, contributing to increased distrust in the media and institutions and to the polarization of the public sphere. This article analyzes the main challenges associated with disinformation and post-truth in contemporary society, reflecting on their impacts and possible mitigation strategies. It concludes that strengthening digital literacy, critical thinking, fact-checking, and accountability in the production and sharing of content is an essential element for promoting more credible information and a more informed and transparent public sphere.
