Abstract

This reflective article takes a closer look at how language, writing, and storytelling have evolved throughout Human History. From the earliest forms of communication, like pictograms and cave paintings, to the more sophisticated writing systems developed by ancient civilizations like the Sumerians and Egyptians, here we explore the origins and growth of these expressive mediums. We also dive into why people write and tell stories, considering how emotions and brain chemistry come into play, when creating and enjoying narratives. By examining how storytelling continues to impact society today, we see how stories shape our understanding of the world and our connections with others. Ultimately, this exploration offers valuable insights into what makes us human and highlights the vital role of language and the mysterious art of storytelling in our lives.
