Abstract

This article will present an analysis of how the emergence of woke culture has affected political correctness in the arts, using communication as a link between these two themes. Woke culture, a controversial term that from time to time resurfaces strongly in our society as a point of contention, has had a major influence on what we consider to be politically correct art today. Increasingly, themes such as racism, discrimination and inequality are represented through a wide variety of artistic means, not only as a form of expression, but also as a warning of the adversities our society faces. In this way, this article will explore and substantiate threats, such as the lack of freedom of expression, and opportunities, such as the creation of a bigger stage to address issues such as racism and discrimination.
