With the expansion of digital technologies, organizational and archival environments must be prepared for the impacts and challenges imposed by these means. The notion of archival governance emerges as a transversal and strategic action that incorporates contributions from external contexts, based on the macroarchival dimension. In this regard, the main objective of this research is to investigate Archival Governance as a strategic tool in the digital age. Specifically, we aim to: (i) Explore the concepts that shape the notion of Archival Governance, as well as its characteristics and forms of application; (ii) Analyze the contributions resulting from the application of Archival Governance in the digital age; and (iii) Contribute to the advancement of studies related to the notion of Archival Governance. This is a basic research study, as it contributes to theoretical discussions in the field. Through an exploratory-descriptive approach, we aim to understand and analyze the scientific object. Data collection will be conducted through bibliographic research, and data analysis will follow a qualitative approach to subjectively interpret the information. The quadripolar method will guide the entire research process in a dynamic and holistic manner. Therefore, we consider this study to be of significant scientific, technical, and social relevance, given that exploring archival governance in the digital context implies rethinking the strategic actions of archivists. Expectations for this research are high, considering the topic’s relevance and the potential to foster further discussions in this area.
