Democracia Deliberativa e Guerras Culturais na Era Digital

Este artigo parte de uma exposição e análise da proposta de “democracia deliberativa” de Jürgen Habermas para desencadear uma reflexão crítica exploratória sobre alguns temas prementes, na perspetiva dos Estudos Culturais. Revisita-se o conceito original de democracia deliberativa (1998), abordando algumas das críticas que lhe foram dirigidas e explora-se a sua recente revisitação (2023), nomeadamente à luz da digitalização das sociedades contemporâneas. Esta análise é o ponto de partida para examinar as implicações da ideia de política deliberativa e, em menor grau, esfera pública, para temas-chave dos Estudos Culturais, particularmente no contexto da identidade e outrização, com um foco nos desafios colocados pela era digital, como a fragmentação do discurso público, ou a existência de um contexto de verdadeiras “guerras culturais”.
