Islamismo e Cultura Malaia em Espectáculos de Dabus em Perak Malásia

Resumo

A Malásia possui uma filosofia cultural distinta em sua política cultural nacional, enfatizando o fortalecimento da nação. O Islão desempenha um papel central nessa filosofia, e as expressões artísticas devem refletir os princípios islâmicos, conforme tem ocorrido desde a chegada da religião à Península Malaia. Uma questão fundamental que surge diz respeito a qual paradigma islâmico (mazhab) deve servir de fundamentar para a criação artística malaia. Este artigo defende o conceito de “Islã Malaio”, que representa a integração do Islã e da cultura malaia em todos os aspectos da vida, incluindo a prática do Dabus. Um estudo de campo de dois anos com o grupo de Dabus Tanjung Bidara, em Perak, Malásia, revelou que: (1) a estrutura das apresentações de Dabus está intimamente alinhada com os valores islâmicos; (2) a função das apresentações de Dabus está enraizada no bem-estar social, guiada pelos princípios islâmicos; (3) os significados e valores centrais incorporados nas apresentações de Dabus são baseados no monoteísmo islâmico (ketauhidan); e (4) as fundamentos islâmicas são essenciais na formação da arte malaia como um contraponto às influências estéticas ocidentais.

Salman Alfarisi, Sultan Idris Education University, Malásia

Salman Alfarisi, also known as Salman Faris, was born in Lombok, Indonesia. He is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia. In addition to his academic career, he has been actively involved in arts and cultural programmes organised by nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) and government bodies. For over 15 years, he has served as a consultant in tourism, arts, and culture for the government of West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), Indonesia. His academic journey began at the Indonesian Drama and Film Academy of Arts (ASDRAFI) in Yogyakarta, where he pursued studies in drama and film. He subsequently obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Dramaturgy and a Master’s degree in Performance Studies from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. He later completed his doctoral studies in Cultural Studies at Udayana University in Bali.

Muchammad Bayu Tejo Sampurno , Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonésia

Muhammad Bayu Tejo Sampurno is a lecturer and researcher in performing arts and visual arts studies, focusing on interactive media, psychology of arts, and cultural studies. He earned his doctoral degree from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, in 2021, with a dissertation on multimedia and space ecosystems used for art therapy. Alongside his academic pursuits, he is an active intermedia artist, exploring traditional and psychological themes in his works. He is a senior lecturer at the Department of Performing Arts, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia.

Indar Sabri, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonésia

Indar Sabri, born in 1979, is a permanent lecturer at the State University of Surabaya in the postgraduate art education doctoral program. He is also a visiting lecturer in the Wilwatikta College of Arts Surabaya theatre department and a tutor at the Indonesian Open University UPBJJ. He completed his undergraduate education in theatre at the Yogyakarta Indonesian Arts Institute in 2004, earned his master's degree in arts education in 2009, and obtained a doctoral degree in art education from Semarang State University in 2021

Junaidi, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Indonésia

unaidi was born in Sukoharjo on October 2, 1962. He completed his PhD at UGM in 2010 with a dissertation titled "Pakeliran Purwa Leather Puppetry by Child Dalang." He has been a lecturer in the Department of Puppetry at FSP, ISI Yogyakarta, from 1988 to the present, teaching Puppetry Knowledge, Puppetry History, Puppetry Iconography, and Selected Traditions of Pakeliran. His research focuses on puppetry and wayang as a medium for national education and the formation of Islamic religious character. He is the author of wayang scripts, books, and journals. He has created various models of wayang and musical compositions whose intellectual property has been registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
