Celebrating 600 Years Together: Alumni Engagement at KU Leuven

Abstract

KU Leuven celebrated its 600th anniversary through a comprehensive global engagement strategy designed to connect its community of over 326,000 alumni. By hosting events in 14 international locations and major celebrations in Leuven like the 24-Hour Challenge and the Alumni Carillon Cantus the university increased its global visibility and strengthened alumni identity. These efforts successfully registered nearly 8,000 new users on the KU Leuven Connect platform and raised funds for four international scholarships. This project highlights that starting early and leveraging student traditions are vital for building a sustainable and engaged international network
